“ Desideriamo
fervente energia per vivere il nostro tempo ” (Duo Leda) Our mission is to present the Italian
vocal chamber music repertoire, ranging from sacred to secular music. This
includes opera arias and songs in popular dialects, with particular attention to
the importance of the words. We would like to create a special link with
literature and the most significant Italian writers, bringing back to life
memories and flavours from the past and turning them into living emotions.
Leda was the wife of the King of Sparta, loved
by Zeus,
who seduced her in the guise of a swan. They had four children: Helen (later known as the
beautiful Helen Of Troy), Castor and Polydeuces (otherwise known as the Dioscuri)
and Clytemnestra.
Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo were both very inspired by Leda and the
Swan. Recent concerts include a recital for the
Italian Celebrations at Clare Hall, Cambridge.
